Not every path into tech begins with a grand moment. Sometimes, it starts with quiet curiosity - asking how things work, questioning why they don’t, and gradually learning how to make them better. For Samra Isić, that steady curiosity turned into a career where progress is built step by step.

At Galeyo, Samra works as a Software Developer, focusing on improving systems, solving problems, and contributing to products that evolve over time. Her journey reflects a grounded, practical approach to growth - one shaped by persistence, learning, and trust in the process.

What first drew you to technology?
Curiosity. I’ve always been interested in how things work behind the scenes, and the idea of building something functional from scratch really pulled me in.‍

Do you remember the moment you realized: “This is where I belong”?
When I fixed my first bug completely on my own. It was a small thing, but the feeling of understanding the problem and making it work was very real.‍

Have you ever doubted yourself in your career? What helped you move forward?
Yes - more than once. What helped was consistency, learning step by step, and realizing that everyone struggles, not just me.

What is one stereotype about women in tech you would like to retire for good?
That women are less technical or less interested in complex problems. That’s simply not true.‍

What advice would you give to a girl who is curious about IT but unsure if she is “good enough”?
You don’t need to have everything figured out to begin. If you’re curious, that’s already a strong enough reason to start.‍

What do you think truly creates equal opportunities in tech?
Fair access to learning, supportive environments, and teams that value people based on their work and ideas.‍

Outside of your job title, what strengths do you bring into your team?
I bring patience, clear communication, and a genuine willingness to help others when they’re stuck or need a second perspective.

What does leadership mean to you?
Leadership means taking responsibility, supporting others, and creating an environment where people feel safe to grow and do their best work.

Finish this sentence: “At Galeyo, I feel empowered when…”
…I’m trusted to solve problems independently and when my ideas are heard, valued, and taken seriously.‍

What excites you more: building something from scratch or improving something that already exists?
Improving existing systems, because I enjoy refining things, solving inefficiencies, and making something already good even better.

What is the most complex challenge you’ve solved recently, and what did it teach you?
Working through a complex issue across multiple services. It taught me to break problems down, stay focused, and trust the process instead of rushing to conclusions.

At Galeyo, strong teams are built on trust, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Samra’s story is a reminder that growth in tech doesn’t have to be loud - sometimes it’s steady, intentional, and built one solved problem at a time.
